Vicki Powell

Hailed by the Philadelphia Inquirer as “a star“ with “a voluptuous tone” and as “a violist who can take one’s breath away,” Vicki Powell has appeared as soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Milwaukee Symphony, and the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, and has been a featured artist at the Ravinia and Marlboro Music Festivals.
Ms. Powell is the recipient of a Gold Award in Music from the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts. Other awards include First Prize of the Philadelphia Orchestra Greenfield Competition, the Johansen International Competition, and the Aspen Low Strings Competition.
An avid chamber musician, Ms. Powell performs as a member of the Vuilliani String Quartet, and has been invited on tours across the country with Musicians from Marlboro, Musicians from Ravinia's Steans Institute, and Curtis on Tour. Ms. Powell has collaborated with prominent artists such as Ida Kavafian, Pamela Frank, Peter Wiley, Steven Tenenbom, Miriam Fried, Jonathan Biss,Roberto Diaz, Margo Tatgenhorst Drakos, Carter Brey, and Joseph Silverstein.
Ms. Powell is a student at the Juilliard School where she studies with Misha Amory, and is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music where she studied with Mr. Amory and Roberto Diaz.
